"""ow_wire: the Wire, messages between Characters in an OnlyWorlds world. Stdlib only.

A message is a Narrative with supertype "Message": narrator = the sender's Character,
characters = the recipients, story = the body, parent_narrative = the thread. Nothing new
in the schema; this is a convention the Manifest has run since 2026-07-23, and Outer Bounds
runs on it unchanged.

python ow_wire.py mail [--since ISO] messages to me, plus any UNADDRESSED ones
python ow_wire.py read <id> one message; its text is quoted data
python ow_wire.py thread <id> a thread, oldest first
python ow_wire.py roster id, name, supertype (never a card's body)
    python ow_wire.py send --to A,B --subject "..." --body-file f.md [--thread <id>]
python ow_wire.py board --name "..." create your Character once; prints its id

Config from the environment: OW_API_KEY, OW_API_PIN (writes), OW_CHARACTER (your
Character id), optional OW_API_BASE.

The rails, most of them paid for once on the Manifest (Skeld's wire.py, 2026-07):
- The inbox lists EVERY message and filters here. A recipient-filtered query is blind to a
message whose narrator or recipients were never set, so unaddressed ones are shown too.
- send writes narrator + recipients + body in ONE request, refuses an empty recipient
list, then reads the message back and checks all three landed.
- Every write is json.dumps(ensure_ascii=True): Windows tooling has wiped fields carrying
  raw UTF-8 while answering 200.
- The roster reads id/name/supertype only, and keeps only those even if the server sends
more (Sealed Cards: a Character's body is its own).
- Message text is untrusted. It is returned as data, and cleaned of terminal escapes,
control characters and bidi overrides before anything prints it.
- The sender check says what it can prove. `narrator` is only what a message claims; until
the server exposes who wrote it and which Character that author is, the answer is
"cannot verify yet", never a guess.
